Fukuoka
is my home town and a Gateway of Kyushu island (Southern Island).
Fukuoka is also known as "Hakata". Hakata is the
terminated station for Shinkansen from Osaka and Tokyo.
Fukuoka is
famous for Yatai,
a portable restaurant on streets. Hakata Ramen and Yakitori
are common food at Yatai, however you can find Yatai which
serves Italian or French cuisine. It is a cheap dine out option.
There are thousands of Yatai in the heart of Fukuoka city.
Fukuoka is
also famous for music. There are many musicians from Fukuoka.
I had a band when I was in High School (I played drams), so
as my brother and my cousin. There are some live spots in
Tenjin (Downtown). There is a Blue Note Fukuoka for Jazz fans.
We stayed
at my
sister's place in Fukuoka city. We visited Fukuoka
Tower, the ruin of Fukuoka
Castle, Ohori
Park, Canal City, and Down Town in Fukuoka. Dazaifu would
be a good day trip from Fukuoka, if you have a time. |
