On 15th of March, we went to Hiroshima for a day trip from Fukuoka. It only takes an hour from Fukuoka by Hikari Shinkansen, bullet train.

Hiroshima is known as a city which was damaged by an Atomic Bomb in 1945. There is Peace Memorial Park and "the Atomic Bomb Dome" which was registered in 1996 as a World Heritage site. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit this time. www.pcf.city.hiroshima.jp/peacesite is Hiroshima Peace Site, if you are interested in more details.

Miyajima, a little island in Hiroshima is one of my favourite places in Japan, so I took Marc to Miyajima. Miyajima is one of Japan's three scenic places, and Itsukushima Shrine which was built on the water in the island is registered as World Cultural Heritage in 1996. It takes about a half hour train ride from Hiroshima to Miyajimaguchi, and then 10 min ferry ride to Miayjima. You can spend a week in Miyajima. We only visited small part of Miyajima such as Itsukushima Shirine, Daiganji Temple, Momijidani Park (maple leaves), Five stories Pagoda, and Senjokaku.

We had dinner with my parents, my cousin and his wife, my brother at my parent's place.
